Going Blonde Instruction

Reminder: Do it at your own risk. Check if you have any allergy reactions before you proceed. This whole process is bleaching only. I have no information about dyeing blonde. Good luck.

As one-time bleaching is not adequate, you may have to avoid using any heating appliances such as hair straightener and hairdryer, and, you are advised to condition your hair religiously every shower so you can do the next bleaching cycle ONE week after the first cycle. It is definitely going to take more than one bleaching cycle, also depending on how dark your hair is.

1) No hair spray or chemicals on your hair for 24 hours before bleaching.
2) Bleach evenly. I recommend Clairol's Born Blonde Maxi. Follow all instructions in the box. After bleaching, hair feels very dry. This is very normal.
3) After shampoo, ALWAYS condition hair to restore softness. Leave in the conditioner about 5 minutes or more. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP.
4) Air dry only. Avoid heating appliance.

At this point of time, hair color appears rusty or in my opinion, weird.

A week later, repeat the cycle 1-4. It should go blonder. If not do the cycle again in TWO weeks. Too much strain to the hair may cause hair to break.

And once you've achieved your blonde, keep bleaching the roots every 2-3 weeks to maintain the sexy blonde look.

Good luck, ladies!

Updates

Hey guys, I've got caught up with myself and my mind circus. This freak show in my head is never ending but a great source of inspiration I would say.

Well anyhow, yesterday, we met Hideo Kojima. Will post a review about that soon. More things coming up which include an interview with a freelance clothing designer, Fariza the Porcelain Star, and more about blond hair blues.

So stay tuned, guys. In the meantime, drop me a word if you have anything you would love to know about Japan or life here while I'm still stuck here. :P

Thank you for the love and support, VFS readers.

The Virtue

This is a reminder for us who always have the constant need to fix things immediately. Don't rely on the false hope you have created in your mind.

"Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success."

Going Blonde

I've been asked so many times about my hair color so I decided to put up this pose for you girls who has the "ambition" to be blonde. It's pretty rare to see asian girls looking nice with blonde. Or rather, the blonde hair don't suit the look of the girls. Firstly, getting to blonde is definitely one bumpy ride through disasters before it comes out right.

While at it, I tried different things to make the look fit. So one of the things that I did was to trim my black eyebrows. Maybe if you'd like some eyebrows, go ahead and draw with a nice brown pencil that suits you. Also, you don't have to be of fair complexion to turn blonde. I am golden tan. Truly an asian color so if you are tan too, be proud of it and quit putting on make up which are too light for your skin. Please. I've seen so many girls back in Singapore with white white make up on and clown-like eye shadows and to make it worse, they're so tanned. If you are one of them, I'd urge you to go a make up store counter and ask the assistant to help you get the make up which are right for you. Don't feel so terrible about having a darker shade for your foundation. It's what's best for you.

Well back to being blonde topic. Important thing is be confident and wear your look well. Watch the image you are portraying. It might be a challenge to have society accept the image but what makes a woman so attractive is, again, her confidence.

Good luck, ladies.

Band

I'm officially a female vocalist of a band. Tonight was my first session and basically the band is pretty new. It is VERY hard to form a band right here in Japan. Very very difficult for us English-speaking folks plus our lives pretty much evolves in the military base life and stupidity brought on by the boring life we lead here. Yes, we're holding on and kicking off our misery by having fun on our jamming sessions. Until then..

Moving to Florida

Finally, it's June. Josh is going to take leave in exactly 30 days time until the day we wave goodbye to the military life. At this point of time, he is making calls to track my Visa status. We're very excited about uniting with our family in THE States. I've already secured a job and apartment hunting. We're getting a house with a fenced yard for our future Kuvasz where she can roam around as she guards our kingdom. It'll be great for Ally and Raphael to run around at. We're so excited! In 30 days, we're packing everything. Finally! OMG!

Wish us luck, my friends!

Project PAWS Yokosuka

Pets Are Worth Saving

One day, I decided to hang out with the cats. I thought,"Ey why not?" Usually people come in to love and care for the cats but I decided to do something very me. Bumming. So I started laying a throw on the ground and the cats just started to come closer and sit around by my side. Also, I took a short nap. Wow.. Journey to the PAWS by foot from the base's gate is indeed exhausting. I actually enjoyed being around them.

This was the shelter I got my Ally from. All animals in the shelter are given updated shots and the adult cats are sterilized. If you want a declawed cat, I'd suggest you do no harm to the ones with the claws still because look no more, you may just find a bunch of them declawed already in the shelter. I know how a lot of apartments here in Japan would prefer owners having declawed pets. Think about the trauma your pet has to go through with all the pain and blood. No doubt its life will totally be affected and its temperament would change too. Ouh man, that ought to hurt. Ally's declawed too and I'm just lucky that she's all nice and kind still. I don't think she realized she has no claws because she still scratch on cat's scratch cardboard really hard and all.

Anyway.. Pets are worth saving. They're our late night entertainment somehow at home. The constant love and licks they give us, the exercises you get from walking them and nice extra chores to train you to become more responsible and unselfish. Things we learn from them and them learning from us. A friendship to treasure for life. :)

Homesick

And sick. Down with cold viral. Ouh and on a total different issue, gosh, I can't stand being alone for even a couple of hours while Josh goes to work. Not that comfortable having company in my home where hurricane visited couple weeks ago.

And karaoke is my only peace where I let it out. Often, one would spot me walking alone to Budweiser, a karaoke bar, just minutes away from home. Just a place where I see familiar faces and familiar songs the loners and the happy faces singing as our days go by. Far away from our family and in a temporary land where our lives dial down to a pause, we certainly do all we can to keep ourselves busy in the wee hours of the night, sometimes, lonely nights.

Say all you want, but drinking is probably all we do, besides being on the computer, playing the PS 3, watching FRIENDS and LOST, going out to the NEX, that military mall, only seeing the same things they have there all the time. We could go up to Tokyo. Sure we can do that all the time and basically have our paychecks run out in a week. There's a library. It's just. There. Material-controlled. And how nice. We have Tsutaya Bookstore. But up in Roppongi. Nothing like Barnes and Nobles or Borders.

We have people to talk to. "Nihonggo? Wakanarai, sumimasen." No we don't really understand. Small talks are fine but not great of a conversation. People come and go in this land. I love the culture and the people. But it's great to visit. Not to stay.

For all I know, I'm ready to go. My family awaiting in "the land of opportunity" - Grand Theft Auto.
